Rotation A: Patient Research

You have been assigned a 31 year-old male patient who has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

You need to research how Parkinson's disease affects the human body to be able to answer the following questions:

  • What is Parkinson's disease?
  • What are the organs/body parts that are most affected by Parkinson's disease and how does Parkinson's disease affect each of them?
  • Overall, how does Parkinson's disease affect a person's everyday life functions?
  • How is Parkinson's disease treated or cured?

You need to complete a works cited guide listing the sources (books, Web sites, encyclopedias...) you used to find your information. You should also list any sources you obtained pictures or graphics from. This sheet needs to be turned in at the BEGINNING of Day 3.

Homework due before Rotation B:
Prepare a brief (up to 3 minutes) public service announcement to explain why there should be more funding for Parkinson's disease research and treatment. Your announcement should contain all the answers to the above questions. Make a prop/poster that will help you present your findings to the public.
