Rotation A: Patient Research

You have been assigned a 31 year-old female patient who has been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy.

You need to research how muscular dystrophy affects the human body to be able to answer the following questions:

• What are the different types of muscular dystrophy and how do people get them?
• How do each of these different types of muscular dystrophy affect the human body?
• How are each of these different types of muscular dystrophy treated or cured?

You need to complete a works cited guide listing the sources (books, Web sites, encyclopedias...) you used to find your information. You should also list any sources you obtained pictures or graphics from. This sheet needs to be turned in at the BEGINNING of Day 3.

Homework due before Rotation B:
Prepare a brief (up to 3 minutes) public service announcement to explain why there should be more funding for muscular dystrophy research and treatment. Your announcement should contain all the answers to the above questions. Make a prop/poster that will help you present your findings to the public.
