Rotation A: Patient Research

You have been assigned a 7 year-old male patient who has been diagnosed with lyme disease.

You need to research how lyme disease affects the human body to be able to answer the following questions:

• What is lyme disease and how does one get this disease/disorder?
• What are the organs/body parts that are most affected by lyme disease and how does lyme disease affect each of them?
• What body system(s) do each of these organs/body parts belong to, and how are these body system(s) affected by lyme disease?
• Overall, how does lyme disease affect the human body?
• How is lyme disease treated or cured?

You need to complete a works cited guide listing the sources (books, Web sites, encyclopedias...) you used to find your information. You should also list any sources you obtained pictures or graphics from. This sheet needs to be turned in at the BEGINNING of Day 3.

Homework due before Rotation B:
Prepare a brief (up to 3 minutes) public service announcement to explain why there should be more funding for lyme disease research, treatment and education. Your announcement should contain all the answers to the above questions. Make a prop/poster that will help you present your findings to the public.
