Rotation A: Patient Research

You have been assigned a 53 year-old male patient who has been diagnosed with diabetes.

You need to research how diabetes affects the human body to be able to answer the following questions:

• What are the different types of diabetes and how do they affect the human body?
• How are each of these different types of diabetes treated or cured?
• Which form of diabetes could possibly be prevented and why?

You need to complete a works cited guide listing the sources (books, Web sites, encyclopedias...) you used to find your information. You should also list any sources you obtained pictures or graphics from. This sheet needs to be turned in at the BEGINNING of Day 3.

Homework due before Rotation B:
Prepare a brief (up to 3 minutes) public service announcement to explain why there should be more funding for diabetes research, treatment and education. Your announcement should contain all the answers to the above questions. Make a prop/poster that will help you present your findings to the public.
