Rotation A: Patient Research

You have been assigned a 25 year-old female patient who has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

You need to research how cerebral palsy affects the human body to be able to answer the following questions:

• What is cerebral palsy?
• What are the organs/body parts that are most affected by cerebral palsy and how does cerebral palsy affect each of them?
• What body system(s) do each of these organs/body parts belong to, and how are these body system(s) affected by cerebral palsy?
• Overall, how does cerebral palsy affect the human body?

You need to complete a works cited guide listing the sources (books, Web sites, encyclopedias...) you used to find your information. You should also list any sources you obtained pictures or graphics from. This sheet needs to be turned in at the BEGINNING of Day 3.

Homework due before Rotation B:
Prepare a brief (up to 3 minutes) public service announcement to explain why there should be more funding for cerebral palsy research and treatment. Your announcement should contain all the answers to the above questions. Make a prop/poster that will help you present your findings to the public.
